Mathilda's very own egg craft

Dear Tinkerlab, not only you are an amazing page but you also inspire with amazing ideas like your creative kids challenge. Why didn't I think of this before?! This is so simple, you give your child a common material and ask them to create something with it. This month's object is not surprisingly an egg.

When Mattie heard that she was going to get into my role which means choosing materials and leading the project she got so excited, proud, serious, careful, thoughtful. She felt special, competent and creative. She told me that she wanted to use flowers (for which we needed to put on our boots and raincoats and get outside into the rain), drinking straws, threads and cellotape. She made kind of a bug girl - the straws are the antennas. I'm amazed by the attention to details - note the flowers at the top of those feelers.

While Mathilda was decorating her egg, Hugo was practising cutting flowers.

This is an experiment worth doing!
